First I did a simple sketch
DoNext I blocked in some coloruble click to edit
I then finished the painting by adding darker values of the various colors. Green was added. I was constantly using the blending brush as I painted. Near the completion of the painting I added the center of the flower.
I was concerned as to why I put the center of the flower where I did. After finishing the painting, I read about Divine Proportions. I then realized that must have been the reason.
Please note in the image below the center of the flower. I was just grabbing colors as I painted with a small brush.
